As reported in the Coventry Telegraph on 1st February 2014, Henry Ison & Sons are pleased to have supported the testicular cancer charity Balls To Cancer.

Coventry residents turned out in force recently to support a fundraising evening in aid of Balls To Cancer, the Midlands-based male cancer charity. Organised by local funeral director Henry Ison & Sons, the evening raised £1,235 which will help the charity raise further awareness of prostate and testicular cancer amongst men.

The highlight of the sports themed evening, which took place at The Arches Venue on Spon End, was a blind auction of sports memorabilia. Amongst the lots up for grabs were a signed snooker ball from former World Snooker champion Judd Trump and a signed football from the entire Manchester United squad.

“It was fantastic to see so many local people attending the evening, and we have been overwhelmed by the amount of support we received. As well as thanking Coventry-based businesses who generously donated prizes, we’d like to also extend our thanks to local residents for attending the event and helping us to raise such a large amount.”

The team at Henry Ison & Sons decided to support the Balls To Cancer charity after learning about the high numbers of men diagnosed with prostate and testicular cancer each year, a figure that continues to rise.

“While over 40,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year and figures show that testicular cancer is on the rise, it seems that this is a subject that the majority of men do not openly discuss. Therefore we hope that the event was not only a success from the point of view of raising much needed funds for the charity, but it also encourages men in the city to feel more comfortable when talking about it,” concluded Teresa.

The Henry Ison & Sons team are still collecting donations on behalf of Balls To Cancer and local residents who would still like to make a donation can do so by visiting the Henry Ison & Sons branch at 1 Jubilee Crescent, Radford, Coventry CV6 3EX.
